and 0.24% and corresponding increase of (13.25%), 40.70% and (20.81%).
In terms of foreign direct investment attraction, 1 new projects were
licensed in 2017 with a registered capital of 0.44 million USD, an decrease
of 75% in project number and decrease of 96% in registered capital
compared to 2016.
4. Price index and core inflation
Consumer price index (CPI) in December 2017 increased by 1.94%
compared to that in December 2016. In 2017, the average CPI increased by
1.99% compared to that in 2016.
Gold price index in December 2017 increased by 0.93% over the same
period in 2016; the average index in 2017 was 6.59% higher than that in
2016. The USD price index in December 2017 rose 0.23% over the same
period in 2016; the average index in 2017 was 1.53% higher than that in
2016.
5. Business registration
Number of newly established enterprises in 2017 hit a new record
with 245 enterprises, an increase of 14.86% compared with that in 2016.
Total registered capital reached 1,458 billion VND, declining by 1.82%;
the average registered capital of a newly established enterprises in 2017
was 5.95 billion VND, declining by 14.27%.
In 2017, there were 60 re-operated enterprises, increasing by 9% over
the previous year.
94 enterprises temporarily ceased in 2017, increasing by 30% over the
previous year.

Production of cereals recorded 115,866 tons, an increase of
3.48% compared to that in 2016, of which paddy production reached
910,010 tons, an increase of 4.49% (Spring paddy production reached
32,852 tons, a increase of 6.72%; winter paddy production gained 58,158
tons, a increase of 3.27%).
