Total retail sales of goods and services reached 15,092.17 billion VND
in 2017, rising by 12.13% over the previous year. Of which, Retail sale
12,440.43 billion VND increased by 11,78%; Accommodation, food and
beverage service 1,726.47 billion VND increased by 16.49%; Tourism 5.41
billion VND increased by 67,04%; Other service 919,86 billion VND
increased by 8,89%.
Passenger transport in 2017 reached 10,678.06 thousand passengers
and 1,353,114 thousand passengers.km, increasing by 11.34% and 11.42%
respectively compared to the previous year. Freight transport in 2017
reached 10,306 thousand tons, increasing by 7.67% and 517,690 thousand
tons.km, rising by 8.57% over last year.
Total number of telephone subscribers reached 130.2 subscribers,
decrease by 3.1% compared with that in 2016, with an average of 75
subscribers per 100 persons. Number of ADSL internet subscribers
estimated at 41,254 subscribers, increasing by 24.8%, with an average of
7.9 subscribers per 100 persons.
7. Some social issues
- Population, labor and employment
The average population in 2017 of the whole country reached 520,048
persons, an increase of 12,230 persons or 2.41% over 2016, in which the
urban population was 184,765 persons, accounting for 35.53%; the rural
population was 335,283 persons, accounting for 64.47%; male population
was 275,523 persons, accounting for 52.98%; female population was
244,525 persons, accounting for 47.02%.
The labor force aged 15 and above nationwide was estimated at
307,816 persons in 2017, an increase of 2.30% over 2016. The labor force
aged 15 and above working in economic sectors was estimated at 305,510
persons in 2017, an increase of 2.86% over 2016. The percentage of
trained employees at working age was estimated at 47.90% in 2017, higher
than the figure of 47.20% of the previous year.
The unemployment rate of labor force at working age was 0.81% in
2017, with the urban and rural areas’ unemployment rates of 2.06% and
0.17%, respectively. The underemployment rate of labor force at working
age was 0.90% in 2017, with the respective rates for urban and rural areas
of 0.57%, and 1.07%.
