EXPLANATION OF TERMINOLOGY, CONTENT AND
METHODOLOGYOF SOME STATISTICAL INDICATORS ON
AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND FISHING
AGRICULTURE
Farms
are households which produce goods on a large scale and must meet
certain criteria for production scale and output in agriculture, forestry and fishing.
Currently, according to Circular No. 27/2011/TT-BNNPTNT dated April
13,2011 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on “Criteria and
procedures to grant certificate of farm economy”, individuals and households who
engaged in agricultural, forestry or aquaculture production with the certification
of farm economy standards must satisfy the following conditions:
For cultivation, aquaculture and integrated production establishments
, their
farming area must be over the limit (3.1 ha for the Southeast and the Mekong
River Delta, 2.1 ha for the remaining provinces) and production value of goods
reaches VND 700 million per year;
For livestock establishments
must reach the output value of goods at VND 1
billion/year and over;
For forestry production establishments
must have a minimum area of 31 ha
and average output value of goods at VND 500 million per year and over.
Annual planted area
is the planted area with agricultural crops which the
growth period do not exceed one year from planting time to harvest, including
cereal crops (rice, maize, millet etc.), industrial crops (sugarcane, rush, jute, etc.),
medical plants, food crops and legumes.
Annual planted area is recorded when the plant starts its growing process for
each cropping season. In case that in the same area where crops are replanted
many times due to being dead, the area is also recorded once time.
The area of perennial crop
is the area of agricultural crops growing from the
planting time to the first time of harvesting for one year and over and harvests
products for many years, including industrial crops (tea, coffee, rubber, etc.), fruit
trees (oranges, lemons, longans, etc.), medical plants (cinnamon, beans, etc.).
Current area of perennial crops only recorded for the area of crops that are still
alive at the time of observation, including the area of concentrated cultivation and
the area converted from area of scattered trees having products to the concentrated
area.
Production of agricultural crops
is the total volume of the main product of a
certain agricultural crop or group of agricultural crops obtained in a cropping season
or in a year of an agricultural production unit or a region/ geographical area.
Production of each type of agricultural crops is determined by the form of the
product. For products such as rice, maize, green beans, soybeans, etc. are
recorded in the form of dry grain; sweet potatoes, potatoes, cassava are recorded
