LABOUR
Labour force:
Labour force (also known as the currently economically active
population) include employed persons aged 15 and over (working) and the unemployed
persons in the reference period (7 days prior to the observed time point).
Employed persons
refer to those who, during the preference period, go to work and
those had a job or business but are temporarily absent because of illness, strike, holiday,
mechanical breakdown, bad weather or other reasons.
Unemployed persons
refer to those who, during the preference period, do not work but
are available for work and looking for job with payment, including those who never have a
job. Unemployed persons also embrace those who in the process of taking up a new job after
the preference period, those who are dismissed without payment for unlimited time, and
those who are inactive in looking for a job during preference period.
Unemployment rate
refers to unemployed persons as a percentage of the total
economically active population (labor force).
In practice, two types of unemployment rate are used, namely, general unemployment
rate and age-specific unemployment rate.
General unemployment rate
is a percentage of unemployed persons in total
economically active population.
Age specific unemployment rate
is a percentage of unemployed persons of specific age
or age group in total economically active population in the same age or age group.
Labor force participation rate
refers to percentage of total employed persons and
unemployed persons of working age over total population of their working age.
Employed workers in working age
refers to population of working age, whose duties
and interests are to work under the jurisdiction, according to the current Labor Law.
Proportion of population of working age
is percentage of total persons of working
age over total population.
Number of employed workers out of working age
refers to those who are under or
over working age under the jurisdiction, according to the current Labor Law but work
actually.
Number of employed workers in economic units
refers to those who, during
reference period, work in businesses, manufacture and service establishments for salary,
wage and profit in cash or in kind or work in individual and household businesses, or those
who had a job or business but are temporarily absent because of illness, parturition, holiday,
traveling, etc.. and continue their work after that.
